Mrs. Kim Key

Hello! My name is Kim Key and I would like to share a bit about me and how I arrived as a Medical Professions instructor at NEA Career & Technical Center.

I have always had a passion for helping others and would always say “I want to be a nurse when I grow up.”  I guess it took some time for me to “grow up” but I found my way and now I am living the dream of being a teacher.

I have been in healthcare since 2002, starting out in medical records. I “climbed the ladder” in this field going from a medical records clerk to a registered nurse by taking baby steps.  I took the next leap in my journey as a in-home personal care aid where my love for helping others grew.  I enrolled at Arkansas Northeastern College (ANC) and began planning on reaching my first goal by graduating with my LPN in 2006. I went to work as a psychiatric nurse while attending the LPN to RN program at ANC, graduating with my AAS in 2007.

Most of my nursing career has been and continues to be in a hospital setting on a medical/pediatric unit as a staff floor nurse.  I have worked in long term care, home health care and in case management; now I have added teaching high school students to my list.

There are so many opportunities in healthcare and I want to help students see that healthcare is not “just” being a nurse.  In my health science technology class I want to help students build a foundation to build their career--whether they use that foundation to work in the office at a doctor’s office or if they become the doctor in that office.  Healthcare is ever-growing and I want to be a part of the learning experience of our future healthcare professionals.

I am fortunate to be able to work with other instructors who are as passionate about our student’s future as I am. I look forward to continuing to teach and learn from our youth.  I hope if you have an interest in healthcare that you will enroll and grow with us at NEACTC.  We change student lives.  We are constantly learning new ways to incorporate new technology with personal and professional growth and values.

If you have any questions, contact me during my daily planning time from 2:25PM until 3:05PM.  You can reach me at 870-933-5891, extension 28246, or by email at kim.key@jonesboroschools.net.
