First #TechConnect a Grand Slam!
NEACTC hosted its first-ever #TechConnect on September 21, 2023. "#TechConnect is an important yet informal opportunity to invite various members of the community and industry into our school to sit down and have conversations with our students and be shown exactly what they do in class at NEACTC," Director Todd Rhoades said. Teachers from across the center nominated their best and brightest students from the first-nine weeks and Culinary Arts students provided an incredible charcuterie assortment and small shortbread desserts. In total, there were 16 community guests ranging from County Judge Marvin Day to members of the Chamber of Commerce, education, Nucor Steel, Central Dealerships, local REALTORS, logistics, etc. NEACTC student Na'Kiyah Logan stated, "I got paired with Amanda Olson from Jonesboro Realty Company. She was so nice and I could tell she was genuinely interested in what I was doing in my class. Her daughter is a cheerleader at the University of Arkansas, and it would be a dream come true for me to cheer on the Razorbacks after high school." After meeting in the PD Room, students lead their community partner on a tour of their classroom as well as other classrooms across campus. While in their classroom, students showcased what equipment and technology they are currently using and what skills they have learned in the classroom. The 2nd #TechConnect of the 2023-2024 school year is scheduled for October 27, 2023. If you or anyone you know are interested in participating in future #TechConnects, please contact Todd Rhoades at todd.rhoades@jonesboroschools.net.
