Crain is referring to a more than year-long effort to create a new program of study in Industrial Technology.

As the dust settles from the sanding of drywall, the smell of paint adorns the new facility housing the Industrial Technology Center at NEACTC, Jonesboro.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for July 28th.  Officials from the state office of Career Education, Jonesboro Regional Chamber, and area school districts are invited to the opening ceremony, which begins at 10AM.

Created to meet the high demand in Northeast Arkansas for skilled, trained maintenance technicians, new IT Instructor Johnny Tierce is literally chomping at the bit to take possession of the facility.  July first is the scheduled completion date.

New Amatrol trainers are on-site, a Fanuc instructional robot is on its way, while installation and setup by the vendor Sivad and Tierce is set for mid-July.

Advisory Committee members from several NEA industries have played a major role in the creation of the program of study. Those advisory members outlined the initial critical skills, furthered the curriculum development by attending several breakout advisory meetings, and provided direction for NEACTC administrators on the use of student trainers to be purchased for the program.

IT advisory members Brian Richardson and Bettina Rogers-Timmons invited NEA school administrators and other area officials to join NEACTC staff for tours at Camfil and Nice-Pak in Jonesboro.
