The Culinary Arts program of study provides students with knowledge and understanding of basic cooking techniques, menu planning, basic nutrition, and culinary math. In addition, Culinary Arts students are introduced to the professional kitchen and culinary applications, service, and presentation.
Students become ServSafe certified by passing certification testing prior to spending lab time in the culinary kitchen. Numerous companies seek nationally-recognized ServSafe certification.
Culinary Arts allows students to gain entry-level skills in jobs involving technology in food production, management and services. The program emphasizes knowledge of sanitation and safety, nutrition, the use and care of commercial food service equipment, purchasing food supplies, menu planning, and modified diets.
Articulated College Credit: Articulated college credit is available at no cost to students through UAPTC, University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College.
Certifications offered: ServSafe Food Handler, ServSafe Food Manager and SP/2 Culinary Safety Certification.
