Meet Mr. Sam Lassiter, your go-to guru in all things Construction and HVACR at NEACTC. With a whopping 8 years rocking it in the industry, he's like a real-life superhero of handy skills!

Fresh to the education scene, Mr. Lassiter is diving into his FIRST year of teaching, ready to share his HVAC/R magic with all you eager minds.  He once hopped onto the HVAC/R train because he knew it was the ticket to a job fortress – and boy, was he right!

He's got the brainpower, too – an Associates in HVAC and a Bachelor's in Organizational Supervision.  But wait, there's more! He's basically a certification wizard, with a bag full of tricks like EPA 608, Class B HVAC contractor license, and even a Boiler Operator's license. 

So, what's it like having Mr. Lassiter as your guide? Think of him as the laid-back Jedi of construction, making sure every student gets a shot at success in this awesome program. He's all about keeping things chill while helping you soar to new heights! 

But wait, there's a secret recipe to success in his class: Accountability – because you've got this, Respect – for yourself and your comrades, and the unstoppable Willingness to learn.

About Construction/HVACR

Get ready to embark on an exciting journey into the world of Construction and HVACR Certified Technician program at NEACTC! This unique program of study offers a unique blend of classroom and hands-on laboratory training, focusing on construction elements, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration—key components of our modern world. As a student in grades 10-12, you have the opportunity to enroll in this program and earn several nationally-recognized certifications. These certifications will not only enhance your skills but also make you stand out in the job market. 

In this dynamic course, you'll discover the secrets behind crafting awe-inspiring structures, from towering skyscrapers to stunning architectural marvels. Prepare to channel your inner architect as you explore the intricacies of blueprint reading, design principles, and construction techniques. We emphasize the development of diagnosing and troubleshooting skills, equipping you with the ability to tackle real-world challenges. You'll work with a variety of equipment, including window units, split systems, and refrigeration units, honing your skills and gaining practical experience in diagnosing and repairing HVACR systems. You'll also have the opportunity to get your hands dirty and experience the thrill of working with cutting-edge tools and materials. From wielding a hammer to operating heavy machinery, you'll gain practical skills that will set you apart and open doors to countless future opportunities.

What You'll Learn

Construction/HVACR 2024-2025 Curriculum Map

Concurrent Credit

Articulated College Credit

  • Offered at no cost through ASUN (Arkansas State University - Newport).
  • Concurrent Credit: Earn credit alongside your classroom work—no extra assignments required!

Year One Students

  • Total College Credit Available: Up to 10 hours
  • Eligible Courses:
    • Intro to Air: 4 hours
    • Basic Electrical Circuits: 3 hours
    • Basic Electrical Lab: 3 hours

Year Two Students

  • Total College Credit Available: Up to 3 hours
  • Eligible Courses:
    • Preventative Maintenance: 3 hours
  • Certificate of Proficiency: Students who complete all eligible credit hours will receive a Certificate of Proficiency Degree in Preventative Maintenance Technician.

Certifications

The certifications that we currently offer in our Construction/HVACR program are the following:  EPA Universal, 410A, Preventative Maintenance (PM).
