Mr. Sam Lassiter – Construction & HVACR Instructor, NEACTC

Mr. Sam Lassiter brings over eight years of hands-on experience in the construction and HVACR industries to NEACTC. Now in his first year as an educator, he is excited to transition from the field to the classroom, where he's committed to equipping students with the practical skills and confidence needed to thrive in these essential trades.

Mr. Lassiter chose a career in HVACR knowing it offered stability, opportunity, and long-term growth—and he’s passionate about helping students discover those same benefits. He holds an Associate’s Degree in HVAC and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Supervision, combining technical expertise with strong leadership and management insight.

His credentials include EPA 608 certification, a Class B HVAC Contractor License, and a Boiler Operator’s License—making him a well-rounded and highly qualified instructor in both the construction and mechanical trades.

Mr. Lassiter is known for his calm, supportive teaching style and his dedication to student success. In his class, students are encouraged to embrace three core values: Accountability, Respect, and a Willingness to Learn. These principles form the foundation for a productive, inclusive, and empowering learning environment.

About Construction/HVACR

As a student in grades 10-12, you have the opportunity to enroll in this program and earn several nationally-recognized certifications. These certifications will not only enhance your skills but also make you stand out in the job market. 

In this dynamic course, you'll discover the secrets behind crafting awe-inspiring structures, from towering skyscrapers to stunning architectural marvels. Prepare to channel your inner architect as you explore the intricacies of blueprint reading, design principles, and construction techniques. We emphasize the development of diagnosing and troubleshooting skills, equipping you with the ability to tackle real-world challenges. You'll work with a variety of equipment, including window units, split systems, and refrigeration units, honing your skills and gaining practical experience in diagnosing and repairing HVACR systems. You'll also have the opportunity to get your hands dirty and experience the thrill of working with cutting-edge tools and materials. What You'll Learn

Construction/HVACR 2024-2025 Curriculum Map

Concurrent Credit

Articulated College Credit

  • Offered at no cost through ASUN (Arkansas State University - Newport).
  • Concurrent Credit: Earn credit alongside your classroom work—no extra assignments required!

Year One Students

  • Total College Credit Available: Up to 10 hours
  • Eligible Courses:
    • Intro to Air: 4 hours
    • Basic Electrical Circuits: 3 hours
    • Basic Electrical Lab: 3 hours

Year Two Students

  • Total College Credit Available: Up to 3 hours
  • Eligible Courses:
    • Preventative Maintenance: 3 hours
  • Certificate of Proficiency: Students who complete all eligible credit hours will receive a Certificate of Proficiency Degree in Preventative Maintenance Technician.

Certifications

The certifications that we currently offer in our Construction/HVACR program are the following:  EPA Universal, 410A, Preventative Maintenance (PM).
