Degrees in Elementary Education, Family Consumer Science, and even a sprinkle of School Counseling? This instructor's got the whole recipe for success figured out! When she's not creating culinary magic or globetrotting, Mrs. Massey's all about family – she's married with three daughters and three adorable grandchildren.

With 20 years of industry expertise, Chef Johnson's culinary journey began in childhood, surrounded by the tantalizing aromas of restaurants. From there, he crafted his passion into a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Administration from Arkansas Tech University. And oh, the adventure continued! He seasoned his skills through hands-on experience in various restaurant roles until he finally donned the instructor's hat – turning dreams into reality.
Degrees? Check. Passion? Double-check. Chef Johnson is no stranger to certifications – he's a ServSafe Certified Instructor/Proctor, ensuring that both the food and the knowledge he serves are top-notch!
Expect your classroom experience to be a gourmet delight. Chef Johnson brings the perfect blend of fun and engagement, infusing every lesson with the zest of his enthusiasm for the Food Service Industry.

About Culinary Arts
Welcome to the delectable world of Culinary Arts at NEACTC! This program of study is designed to ignite your passion for cooking and provide you with a solid foundation of culinary knowledge and skills that will set you on the path to culinary excellence.
In our Culinary Arts program, you'll dive into the art of cooking, mastering essential techniques that will bring your culinary creations to life. From learning basic cooking techniques to exploring the intricacies of menu planning, nutrition, and culinary math, you'll develop a comprehensive understanding of the culinary world. We believe that great food is not just about taste but also about presentation, so you'll also be introduced to the art of culinary applications, service, and presentation.
The Culinary Arts program equips you with more than just cooking skills. It also empowers you with the knowledge and abilities needed for a range of careers involving technology in food production, management, and services. You'll gain a deep understanding of sanitation and safety, nutrition, the use and care of commercial food service equipment, purchasing food supplies, menu planning, and modified diets. This well-rounded education will prepare you for success in a variety of culinary roles and provide a strong foundation for further culinary pursuits.
Our year 2 students have the opportunity to explore the hospitality field. From management and marketing to operations, you'll gain in-depth knowledge about the inner workings of various sectors, including lodging, visitor attractions, recreation, special events, meetings, conferences, travel-related services, restaurants, and other food services. This holistic approach ensures that you'll be equipped with the skills and expertise needed to excel in diverse aspects of the industry.
The Hospitality Management program complements your Culinary Arts studies, providing you with a well-rounded education that combines the art of culinary mastery with the essential skills of managing and delivering exceptional hospitality services. You'll delve into the service aspect of the industry, focusing on both the front of the house and the back of the house operations. Additionally, you'll gain valuable insights into managed services, acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to create unforgettable experiences for guests

Concurrent Credit
Articulated college credit is available at no cost to students through UAPTC, University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College. Enrolled students have the opportunity to receive up to 15 hours of college credit through our Culinary Arts program. The current available college credit courses are the following: year 1 students- Food Production I (3 hours) and Applied Food Service (3 hours); year 2 students- Food Production II (3 hours), Intro to Hospitality (3 hours), and Fundamentals of Tourism (3 hours). Concurrent credit goes alongside the student's classroom work which means no extra work!
Certifications
The certifications that we currently offer in our Culinary Arts/Hospitality program are the following: ServSafe Food Handler, ServSafe Food Manager and SP/2 Culinary Safety Certification.
