Mr. Chase Smith – Industrial Technology Instructor, NEACTC
With 18 years of industry experience and 6 years in education, Mr. Chase Smith brings depth, energy, and a passion for innovation to the Industrial Technology program at NEACTC. A foundational part of the program since its early days, Mr. Smith draws on his extensive background in manufacturing to prepare students for success in the evolving world of industrial technology.
Mr. Smith’s greatest reward as an educator isn't found in awards or titles—it's in seeing students grow, master new skills, and take pride in their accomplishments. He believes that hands-on learning, real-world applications, and a collaborative classroom environment are the keys to student success.
In his classroom, students are encouraged to approach learning with curiosity, engagement, teamwork, and a willingness to grow. Mr. Smith is committed to helping each learner uncover their potential and transform ideas into practical, real-world outcomes.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Smith is a talented musician whose bluegrass band has been nominated twice for the Arkansas Country Music Awards' "Inspirational Artist of the Year." His creativity and passion for craftsmanship extend beyond industrial tech and into every aspect of his life.

About Industrial Technology

Industrial Technology covers a wide range of essential subjects. You'll receive training in basic electrical concepts, mechanical components, pneumatic and hydraulic components and operations, AC/DC motors, variable speed drives and controllers, as well as beginning concepts in PLC troubleshooting and programming. This comprehensive curriculum ensures that you have the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the industry.

- Offered at no cost through ASUN (Arkansas State University - Newport).
- Concurrent Credit: Earn credit alongside your classroom work—no extra assignments required!
Year One Students
- Total College Credit Available: Up to 12 hours
- Eligible Courses:
- Mechanical Drives I: 3 hours
- Industrial Electricity I: 3 hours
- Trade Skills: 3 hour
- Principals of Industrial Hydraulics: 3 hours
- Certificate of Proficiency: Students who complete all eligible credit hours will receive a Certificate of Proficiency Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technical Operator.
Certifications
The certifications that we currently offer in our Industrial Technology program are the following: S/P2, and OSHA 10.
